A family member bought me a HP (yeah, HP :-( ) Pavilion desktop PC w/vista home premium and the dialup modem (aka Expansion card) keeps going bad. I mean six times since Oct. '09 worth of BAD. I returned it the first time and got a new one, same PC/model#. The 2nd time I made a new DUN, uninstalled/reinstalled modem driver & a few other things and fixed it. The last #3 times they shipped me new modems & I put them in, it dials out first try after I put in every new modem. I never seen a modem like this, it's the size of a credit card, that's the modem? Anyway, I'm up a notch, been talking to the home office in Texas. They keep telling me to try this, try that....I've done everything but I can't fix it. I'm through fixing it every few months, my warranty ends in late Sept. Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks in advance, -Dale btw, under warranty they 'will' have to resolve the prob., right.? I told them nicley I wanted it fixed or the money back. They keep suggesting solutions/tips that I've went over a dozen times. |

When several windows are open, the task bar will not come up when the mouse cursor is moved to the bottom of the screen. Also, the cursor will cease to respond. Using Crtl, Alt, Delete to open Task Manager will cause the PC to begin operating normally. |

On startup, box appears stating the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. I click cancel. I own a compaq presario pc and I am on windows vista. Now here and there my computer freezes up and I have no alternative but to shut it off then when that happens I turn it on and it only shows the microsoft sign and will not go to my deskstop. Then in a day or two after I turn it on it works. Now when I turned it off and checked on it after a day in a half if I remember right. I unplugged everything on the back and then plugged it back in. Problem: When I try to use any programs they will not open on their own and ask for some other program to open it. This however does not make any sense when I try and open lets say internet explorer and the program it says to use is internet explorer. Solution for Aaron Coen's problem: The reason Windows is asking if you want to start Windows normally is because someone did not shut down the computer normally. As you seem to know, any computer has to be shut down properly before unplugging it. All you have to do is select start Windows normally by highlighting it and striking the enter key. It should start up your computer and it will check for any damage the incorrect shut down may have cause. It is a safety feature to help protect computers from damage when shut down is not down right...hope this helps! |

during a storm we unplugged our windows vista but someone forgot to turnoff the computer first. so how wen i try to turn on the computer it takes me to a screen that asks me if i want to start windows normally or if i want to run the system restore to search for any damaged files and try and fix them. but every time i select one or the other options it goes to the screen with the scrolling bar and turns off before windows can fully start. My computer with Windows Vista... Basic it seems... can connect to internet without problems... When it comes to the wireless network. It can't connect trough a network cable. I've tried to run the self diagnostic program but it doesn't fix the problem. I've looked over the internet via my other computer for a solution but the main solutions seem to be firewalls or specific to routers. I'm connected to a hub with one xp-computer and the vista-computer with trouble. I have tried to connect in internet-cafés but again, only wireless works. Is there something I can download to try and update the network card? I have a Nikon d5000 DSLR camera, and I put the Nikon Transfer ViewNX to download my pictures to. After I would download my pictures then I would cut and paste (or just drag) those pictures to my desktop. But now, the pictures are not showing up on the desktop. It's just blank. So how do I fix the problem, where the pictures show up on my desktop? |

while copying the files to the computer just before Expanding the files to install it jumps from Zero % to 100% in about a second or less, whitch is clearley not loading the files then it gives me a Error message XXXXXXXXXXX. I am Runing 3.4 AMD procceser on a M3n78-VM with 8 gigs and a G-force 9800 Vid card and trying to install Vista on a WD Pata 320 hard drive I took the sata off hoping the older style would load Vista clearley not the case if it makes aney diff to what I have |

when I shut down my computer last night I chose install updates and shut down. No my computer will not load Windows Vista. It goes thru Startup and Repair and says that it cannont be repaired. It will not let me choose Restore eiter. What am I to do to get it back up? |

My computer will start up, but my desktop will not pull up. When I turn it on it boots up and then tells me to please wait. I have waited for a very long period of time, and nothing happened. I tried to go on safe mode, and restored the system to before I had downloaded itunes(Ithink that may have caused my problem). It still doesn't work. What do I do? |

I have a genuine Windows Vista for around 3 years and all of the sudden it tells me that it is not genuene. It would not allow me to use my computer with an exception to access to the internet and to Microsoft site which would offer me any way to explain the problem. When I select the option to enter the different code and type the code for my software it displays me the 0x80072EFD. What should I do to get it working. I bought my computer from Future Shop with the windows installed so it must be a good one especially that it worked for three years. Please help, Andrew |

I have been trying to get on the internet with my desktop computer that has Windows Vista on it since 9:30 am. It is now 7:25 pm. Every time theres a new update, my computer has gotten slower and slower. I have constat errors with Explorer and Internet Explorer which say (Not Responding) It has gotten to the point where I can't even use A SIMPLE program like Word because after two hours, the computer still hasn't finished loading up the programs. I have tried deleting programs to free up space on the hard drive, I have tried running Disk Defrag and Disk Clean in the past and it hasnt helped. I have used my ati-virus program and there are no viruses or mal-ware present. My computer is now unusuable which is totally unacceptable. |

I have an emachines desk top with T3626, Windows Vista Home Premium. My desk top turns on and the error recovery screen comes on and it show that "windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. Launch Startup Repair (recommended). After it tries to load the repair mode is shut it self up. I kept trying to start but keeps on shutting it self off. |
