The problem I have is vista downloaded some updates and now it is in a loop that says "configuring updates: 3 0f 3 = % complete Do Not turn off your computer" all this does is keep looping with the same message. Then it will say shutting down and do that but when it restarts It has the same message comes up again and again in a loop that won't stop.

my problem is for whatever reason, every time i start up my computer, it seem to keep losing hard drive space. i have it set not to hypernate or sleep, and i've gone from 255 gigs free to 228, and have only downloaded just over 3 gigs of movies/music/programs. i've defragged, disk cleaned, yet nothing seems to solve the problem. any ideas? thanks in advance!

My computer will not start. It does a Start Up Repair and when completed it says it will try to start. It restarts then goes directly to shut down and does a System Configuration after which it tries to restart again. This has been going on for several hours now. I'm not sure if I have windows Vista or XP.

When startup repair completed I checked the diagnosis and repair details

It says:

Boot critical file c:\ntoskml.exe is corrupt

Repair Action: File Repair

Repair Action: System Restore

Result: Competed succesfully

But then when the computer restarts it goes directly to system configuration and then shuts down.

Second, I can't open my Device manager at all, even from the command prompt. Actually I can't open a lot of things in the Control panel. PROBLEM: When typing emails or word documents, the cursor jumps frequently all over the place (front, back, middle)randomly and types over or adds to previously typed words, numbers, etc. Some times it jumps to a word and highlights it and then removes it and begins the new word being typed. When I try to use the browse button to upload photos to my newsletter, nothing happens. The browse button doesn't do anything. Once in a while, this function works,but it's totally unpredictable and very frustrating.

Also, none of the software (HP and others) which I've installed to manage my photos works properly. I can no longer email a photo or "work" with many of my photos--especially the ones downloaded from CD to PC. Is this related to VISTA? I never had the problem with XP.

I have a HP Photosmart C6100 All-in-One Printer. Model C6180. I can't scan from the Printer to the computer.

I tried to Scan using Paint. (Programs, and then click Accessories, Click Paint, Click File, and then click From Scanner or Camera, click Scan.) This does not work because when I scroll down to scanner or camera is is not highlighted. When I try to add the printer it is not listed.

The disks that came with the printer do not fit into my computer. Do you have any ideas besides uninstalling all

HP related software, and than installing printer?

I recently purchased a new computer and upgraded Windows to Windows Vista Ultimate. I have Microsoft Word and Wordperfect 11 installed. My problem... I can only print one copy at a time while using either of the word processing programs. When I request multiple copies only one copy will print.

I have reinstalled windows. Prior to reinstall I did a complete system backup on an external drive. Now when I try to access the backed up files windows tells me the disk containing the backup is not accessible. However, I can get to the drive through My computer and I can copy other files off the drive, it just does not recognize the backup.

I have a problem with Vista because of how it spits the dummy with some games particulary if they are older games that run under XP.

With one of these Codename Panzers one and two I was actually able to play for several missions before it started to spit the dummy which I find perplexing??? Even the Vista version of Panzers Cold War has shut the game down on me at random times with no rhyme or reason. Other games with the same problems are T34 Vs Tiger where on the last German mission I suffer from repetitive game shutdowns??? It allowed me to finish all the Soviet missions. Sniper Art of Victory is another game that has given me grief.

I don't know if this problem is exclusive to vista but I didn't have it on my old laptop which was running xp. When typing my cursor/ entry point relocates itself periodically and therefore because I am looking down at the keys, I don't notice that I am typing words into a sentance I typed in previously. Sometimes ( I think this is when capitalizing ) it will highlight a string of words ( usually what I most recently typed ) and the very next key stroke deletes everything that was highlighted and replaces it with that one single keystroke. This happens very often and is driving me freaking nuts. This is the problem Major black screen of death i think it might be a trojan but it has blocked everything that might be able even the comand pad instead its not a command pad it is paint so every thing is messed up so i only had windows vista for 2 months and bam i think it needs major improvement i dont mean to make the comapany mad or anything but vista shouldnt even have been released neither should the mac.

I have just made some DVD's using Windows DVD Maker (Windows Vista on my computer). After making several DVD's I wanted to save them to my Hard Drive and play from there.
