I have the game Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow. I've got it to install completely, but it won't run past the login page. I've tried t run it under compatibility mode, but it still won't work.

My office recently installed Vista and the new Microsoft Powerpoint software on my PC. None of my Open Type Files(OTF) work anymore from within Powerpoint. All the letters are squashed into one blob! This only happens in Powerpoint. Adobe software is just fine. Has anyone else run across this? Any solutions?

When I boot up Vista, it seems to be stuck on a loop. I have let it go through scan disk, I have tried skipping it..It gets to the spot where it says upgrading stage 3 of 3, do not shut down computer..then it shuts itself down and starts all over again. I cannot seem to get pass this at all. Is this a normal problem? If so how do I fix it?

Every time I get an update to Vista the system runs slower.  Performance also seems to degrade over the course of the day.

The biggest issue seems to be with doing "simple" system tasks like opening a new application.  It takes too long (1 to 5 minutes), this is unconscionable.

I had heard a lot of negative publicity about Vista when I got my system 2 1/2 years ago but was quite satisfied with it.  However, since the it has steadily degraded to the point of being almost useless.

Please provide help.

Hi Ive been having problems with me laptop basically from word go, but then it started working fine, like first problems was if i was on it for more than a hour it wouldnt load anymore internet pages and id have to reboot for it to work again and sometimes the laptop would take ages to shut down, but then about a month ago it stoped doing it and been fine. But last night everything was fine, turned laptop off , then when i went back on it later, the windows vista loading up part kept going round for ages ,id say about 4 mins before it got on the desktop... then when i clicked on the net , it kept freezing and saying "not responding" every 10 secs, so i just shut it down, but now ,its still doing the same thing and i cant even load sites or anything at all, its soo slow and nothings happening. its got worse. I cant reinstall windows as i aint got the cd, what do you think it is? I dont download music on it and ive got about 5 photos ive uploaded ever on the pc, so it cant be cloged up., i just dont know wtf could of happened. Only got it like 7 months ago. Some of my files have been renamed with random jibberish. I have no idea how this happened. Why why WHY won't windows movie maker split a WAV file? The *&##?!! instructions say to move the marker, then click on "split." Only problem is, the ?"*#@!!! split button is not active, and does not function when clicked. Could someone PLEASE clue me in. The touchpad (mouse) on my laptop is really slow, so I change the speed setting on my mouse pointer under the personalize option when I right-click on my desktop. Voila it works -- UNTIL I reboot. I have this 2 year old computer and about a week ago, my computer was freezing and laggs. I waited for the computer to stop lagging but that didnt work so i turned it off by force and reinstalled the computer. The next day i turn on my computer and then i leave it on for awhile. When i come back it freezes. I reapeat the same thing over again. Everything is fine now...I try to see whats wrong with the computer and i run system diagnostics, theres this error called BIO something under the disc section. I tryed using the discs as well but that didnt work. does anyone know how i can reformat my computer so everything would be normal?

Problem/solution:

While on the internet, if I leave my vista hp laptop idle for an hour or two, when I try to resume opening links I am unable to open any. The system isn't hung, but I cannot open any program or link it seems unless I restart windows.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated before I reinstall vista.

After several hours it completes to the 98.7% level, then produces an error message that says (Cannot complete burning the DVD). Problem: My laptop is not saving the settings for my wireless connection. Every time the machine is powered up, I have to change the driver setting from 802.11a to 802.11b/g. The connection then operates correctly until the machine is powered off. I updated to the latest Intel driver for the 3945ABG Network Adapter. The system booted and connected to the wireless network but then reverted to the wrong setting after about a minute or two. I then installed the VAIO Wireless Switch Setting Utility on the advice of VAIO tech support and experienced the same behavior: The system connected upon reboot but lost the connection after a minute or two. Changing the driver setting to 802.11b/g caused the connection to be reestablished.

OS Vista, I am using Windows DVD Maker in conjustion with Windows Movie maker for a slide show presentation with pictures and audio. I composed the project in Movie Maker, saved and reveiewed it (1 hr 30 min presentation). When I go to burn the dvd (I do have a DVD burner and the correct type of disc as the program has worked properly before), it operates for about five min then the desk top goes black and the only way to regain it is to shut the computer down from the tower. I think my computer was installing adobe reader 9 when this happened. Three or so days ago I was only using google maps and messenger when my laptop froze. Didn't think anything of it but after restarting a few times, more so then five I started thinking something was wrong. I cant use it in normal mode or it wont respond.

I did a scan on safe mode but found nothing. I use AVG. I thought it was due to a virus but if so shouldnt it of been picked up? Two of my geek friends thought the same thing and came up with that it is either the operating system problem (being windows vista) or a driver problem.

Other things I would like to add is in normal mode you can log in and everything will load. Try and do something after or during the loading time it doesnt respond forcing me to restart or get me annoyed enough to just tun the computer off.

Other friends thought it was the fan running to long and heating up but if it was that. my geek friends would have figured it out.

THought it was the battery so I took it out for a bit then put it in trying again. nothing.

I am having a problem with Windows Vista Movie Maker and hope you can help. I read your tutorial. I spent almost 20 hours making my first movie. I named it and saved it as a project. Each time I made edits, I would resave. I had no problems. I published to a DVD to see how it looked. Then I went back in and made some more edits to the audio timing. I published to a DVD to see how it looked. I went in today to make some more edits and keep getting an error message"Cannot open because this is not a valid Windows Movie Maker file."

I have changed nothing. I tried making a copy and opening. I tried saving the DVD to my hard drive, changing the file extension and opening (like in your turorial).  I can open, but it opens as an entire video. I cannot get it to show as indidual clips on the storyboard or timeline.

Is there any way to decompose the video or get the movie back in the format where I can edit it?

Problem: I get "Internet Explorer Has Stopped Working" messages when trying to access the internet. It notes "Data Execution Prevention" and further states that it is protecting the computer from the internet.
