While watching a DVD or watching TV online, about every 10 minutes or so the screen goes black. I have to touch the computer pad and then the screen comes back up and the show or movie continues until it again goes black. This goes on for the entire time I am watching either an hour long program or a movie. I have Windows Business Vista and I own a Vaio notebook. I thought at first it was the player I use to watch DVDs but then it happened while watching TV as well online. How can I stop this from happening? Thanks very much. |

When I shut down my Toshiba Stlt lap top and then re-start it, all data is lost, all settings are lost and it is as if everything is starting over. I ran aa Norton anti-virus but it still does this. Windows works fine once turned on, it's just that nothing is saved, including music on itunes. Help? |

This problem just started 3 days ago. When I logged onto my computer the following sequence of events occurs: - It states that it is "Configuring Updates: Stage 1 of 3" and continues until all three stages are complete. - Then it states "Welcome". - Then it states "Preparing your desktop...". - Then in the upper left hand corner it states "Personalize Settings" and goes through a couple of different applications. - Then it logs on as a temporary user profile All of my documents, pictures, settings, background, Internet favorites, etc... have disappeared. - In the lower left hand corner a balloon pops up and states "Your user profile was not loaded correctly! You have been logged on with a temporary profile....." I have attempted to perform the following actions without any success: - Shut down and restart the computer. - System Restore. Only problem is that the latest day I can restore it to is the day after this problem started. - Uninstalled all of the updates I installed the day before this started happening. - Tried to reinstall these updates and still the same problems. - Ran my Norton virus check and nothing was found. Please, please, please help me! I really need to at least get my documents and pictures from that user profile saved onto my external harddrive. After that, I could care less about that user profile. By the way, there is only one user profile on my computer. I am not sure if that is important or not but thought I would it just in case it was. |

I'm currently on my parents laptop, trying to find a solution to a probelm my brother was having with a game. It's a HP laptop, running Vista. The game he bought is by EA, and works fine on my own laptop. I've tried every possible solution to the game problem offered by the game company, and users on their support forums and elsewhere. I tried to see if the laptop itself has any issues, and was informed that it has never been able to run Windows Live Messenger, or iTunes, both of which are fully installed on the laptop, and both of which work elsewhere in the house. I can't find any similar problems about, and singling out one of the three has not proved to be fruitful thusfar. If anyone can help me to figure out what the problem is here, or how to fix it, I would greatly appreciate it. |

my computer was in the middle of an upgrade and my daughter shut off the computer now it wont boot up. It just goes to saying that there was a problem with a program try turning off the cache and restarting computer in safe mode. I did but it still wont work. I am facing the following issues with Windows Vista Home Premium. 1) Dificulty with renaming a file or folder. Not able to rename it. If i try to rename, the explorer becomes inactive and have to restart the OS to gain full control over the explorer. 2) Difficulty in deleting a file or folder. If I try to delete a file of any type, it gets deleted but the popup which shows the status of deletion does not exit. I have to go to the taskbar and kill it from there, which will close all the open windows and restarts the windows explorer. 3) If I keep the system idle for sometime, some programs stop working and gives some errors like these: a) Alps pointing device stopped working b) Persistence module stopped working and more etc. Please help me with some solution to fix these issues in my Sony Vaio laptop. It is very frustrating with these errors to use the laptop. |

Everytime i start up my computor i get a pop up that say's "Message Loop" on the left upper part of the box and "Press Ok To Stop Module" in the box with an "ok" button in the bottom right part of the box. My laptop has a blue screen. It asks if I want to repair windows and gives me several options to chose from to diagnose for start up. Then it sits for hours while it looks for problems to repair. Vista slower than XP - particularly on internet. Investigated into UniBlue you say is "free download". A truely cunning marketing scheme, as download and system scan are free but number of error corrections limited and others need a fee. Previously fooled into buying similar "Microsoft certified" product this way, but it causes more problems than solving and Vista just seems to get slower and slower. Does this mean it just grows old like humans and can't be healed? (ironic metaphor - the other "free download" I ended up buying has "Doc" in its name! LOL) |

I have not a pop-up problem, but something makes a new tab show up about 3-4 times a minute. The new tab has the same look to it, but it has a different advertisement--it seems like a virus that makes internet explorer open new tabs like crazy. I don't know what it is, I have run in safe mode malwarebytes, but I don't know if it is something I need to change in my settings or what? |

My Compaq laptop has worked ok, but now I cant use any updated browsers, Steam, or the Itunes Store. My computer also wont let me wirelessly connect to a printer. Is it just me? Have I lost my marbles? OR Does IE version 8.0.6001.18904 seem to scramble the History order when the user uses the back button on the mouse, upper left corner or alt/left arrow? i have a new gate way computer it was working fine then about between a month down the road it started going down hill between 8am-400pm right as soon as i walk in the door it turns off and reboots up then started doing blue screen and not even comming back up at all unless i do system factory then it works and goes back to same routine. crashes on games skype and sometimes even takes out net as well i have windows vista 64 bit 64 pentium dualcore e5200 ram is 6.00 gb please if you can help me thank you |

I have this problem, that I plug in my headphones and the speakers still play the music, even though the music is ALSO in the headphones at the same time. I tried switching off the speakers, but that turns the headphones off as well. It is kind of uneasy to listen to my music while my family is around. Please tell me what to do. Thanks and bye. |

I am presently taking webpage design course. I bought a Dreamweaver MX software and installed it to my pc, however something is missing as it wont pick up the "table" when I click it. i bought ms office student & home edition and the product key did not work on the installed office ,so i uninstalled and used the ms office disc the product key worked but an error message came up at about 2 thirds into the installation and stopped,i then uninstalled and down loaded the software ,the product key worked and again an error message 2 thirds into installation and stopped,i brought the software back to the shop, they said there must be a problem with the operating system (vista) |

Whenever I try to uninstall a program, I get the message"The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation", followed by "You do not have sufficient access to uninstall. This usually happens over night. Most mornings my computer is in this state. A link in an email will not open IE. I also can't open mail attachments. When that is true I also can't openany other programs from the desk top or the start menu. I also can't open restart. It does not show up. If I close windows mail then I can open other programs and/or restart. All works well after restart....until next morning |

My computer runs on Vista. I just upgraded my Outlook 2000 to Outlook 2007. I can't get my reminders to pop up. Program says there is a problem reading one of my reminders and it may not be able to read any reminders. I have made sure the program is checked to pop up the reminders, uninstalled, reinstalled and ran the repair, all with no luck. When I try to run the outlook /cleanreminders, all it does it open the Outlook program. Any help you can give me is greatly appreciated. Thank you. |
