My laptop with WIndows Vista has given me nothing but problems since I uploading some pictures onto it. It is saying that I have a faulty USB driver which I can neither uninstall or disable. I never had these problems with XP... it ran beautufully. My friends computer running XP boots to the welcome screen. When I click on the administrator icon (the only icon) a screen flicks on (made by my friend) then immediately kicks back to the welcome screen and says admin logging off. The computer had a virus we were trying to get rid of. Anti-virus 2010. We ran rkill.exe and the power shut off. Since then we've had this problem. We tried reloading XP but my friend is missing disc 2.

I can't open the task manager in administrator user account and when I open that user, it only shows black screen and a mouse pointer... I could only open the task manager in my other user account which is standard user. PROBLEM when my laptop boots up (HP Pavillion dv6000) at times it behaves strange.i have vista home premium. the sidebar will not display at all whatever you do. if you open any dropdown menu, it will display very faint and thereafter, the option on which you click on the dropdown menu,that particular will remain permanently on the screen and always on top of all other subsequent windows. any window which is minimised will not display on the taskbar. if you open my computer, the drives in that won't show up even if you keep refreshing. rest all options would appear. then you shutdown the computer and restart, at times, the same happens the second as well; and at times it starts perfectly fine the second time. otherwise you have to keep doing restarts till it starts to behave correct. any bright ideas ?

Widows Vista works just fine if I don't use Yahoo Messenger. The moment I click on yahoo messenger, my display starts blinking and I have to fix it by going to personalize-display settings-resolution. I change the resolution from high to low or low to high and the display gets back to normalcy.Please note that it's not a virus, because it has been happening from the day I purchased my laptop notebook. The first time I open my pc, it has been happening since then; at that time I did not even have internet. Since then, My pc has been completely protected by Norton and Kaspersky Internet Security. I want to use yahoo messenger 10, not the one for vista. I dont like the vista one. I would be really really grateful if anyone can give me a solution to this problem.

Occasionally I cannot type in either my email accounts or my Word documents. I can get several letters typed then the flashing curson reverses across the document/email and erases all I have typed in previously. This only happends occasionally but often enough to be a nuisance. I have swapped out keyboards to determine it is not a keyboard problem. It occurs no matter what keyboard I am using. I have run the Microsoft virus scan program and the McAfee full scan programs and they all come up clean. Anyone else having/had this problem? What was the fix? Would an upgrade to Windows 7 solve it?

On Windows Movie Maker XP, when I go to publish my movie, the estimated time will go higher and higher, the screen will freeze and I will therefore have to start all over again. I've tried it too many times but it still does the same thing.

However, the movie is 17 minutes long. Could it be that the movie is too long?

Whenever I attempt to download any .zip file, it downloads as a GIMP file. GIMP is an art program I have, but this is no relevance to the problem, I'm sure. Because If I right-click it and choose to open the zip file with another program, all zip files change to that program's thumbnail icon thing.

I have no idea if this is a vista problem, or a problem with my Toshiba Satellite, but my cursor jumps around my word document -- very randomly -- while typing. Speed up Vista with Auslogics BoostSpeed

Problem/solution:

I am using Windows Vista on an Acer Aspire Laptop. All the digital photos I have uploaded display as thumbnails in the folders. I uploaded some more photos yesterday and for no reason they now display as the default icon. The pictures flash up for a second then default to the icon. When I click on each icon the photo comes up. I have made sure the "display as icon and not thumbnail" is unchecked. I haven't changed or downloaded anything recently, the only thing is that Windows has downloaded some updates. It is essential for me to see the thumbnails and this problem is driving me crazy. I have googled this problem and many people seem to have it but I haven't found any soluctions. Please help!

i have vista ultimate.i am having problem in opening any programmes in my laptop as all the programmes are opening through windows media centre.most of the softwares/programmes/files ,i cant open.when i click at the file/programme etc,windows media centre opens up automatically and the desired file/programme doesnt open. please give me solution to my problem. thanx

One of my devices with removable storage is missing. When I click 'computer' there use to be two. Now there's only one, it was a CD-ROM. Plus, in the event log there's many errors saying there is a disc block. HELP please

Problem/solution:

I just disjoined a windows vista machine from Domain and restarted the same, after restaring user name is displaying on the screen and asking the password for the same user name. I am not remebered the password and not able to go to Administrator user name because there is unavailabiliy of the switch user option on the screen. I am also not able to go on command promt from the safe mode, as I try to go on the command promp by the pressing F8, machine automatically redirected on the login screen.

When i send a file via bluetooth, the Bluetooth File Transfer Access Authorization message is not displayed nemo. how can i make it reappear again? bluetooth works fine, tho. its jst dat i need to open the Bluetooth File Transfer Wizard before i can receive any file. Such a hassle, esp for multiple files. plz help. Thx!

Problem/solution:

I have a problem with DEP and Safari/Facebook/FishWorld. Safari works great with Vista until I come to this one program. I ran into this problem before, of all things, with IE. DEP steps in and shuts down the program. I have tried the exception to DEP but even that doesn't work. Any suggestions anyone? I much prefer Safari to IE or Firefox, and I sure would like to play my game!

Cannot open files like word, excel, etc. by clicking on them. I receive an error that says windows cannot find specified file. However, if I open the excel program and use the open file command it works.
